NEW DELHI: The
BJP leaders tore into
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala for allegedly cursing the BJP’s voters and supporters and describing them as having “demonic tendencies”.
Addressing the Congress’s ‘Jan Akrosh' rally in Kaithal, Haryana on August 13, Surjewala had said, “People of the BJP and the JJP are ‘rakshas’ (demons) and those who vote for the BJP and support them also have demonic tendencies.
Today, I curse them from this land of the Mahabharata.”
Several senior BJP leaders, while sharing the video clip showing Surjewala’s speech and which has now gone viral, lashed out at Surjewala for making the “derogatory” comments and said the Congress has begun abusing the voters after failing to launch its "prince", a reference to the party’s former president
Rahul Gandhi.
Education minister
Dharmendra Pradhan said, “After repeated rejections by the public, the frustration of the Congress leaders has reached such an extent that now they have started abusing the people of the country. The Congress leaders, while abusing the BJP, EVM and Election Commission, have now started cursing the public.”
Pradhan said the people of the country have elected the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi against the Congress which “looted the rights of the people for several decades and which believes in clinging to power by creating hatred, division and corrupt tendencies”.
The minister said, “Leave the frustration, close the market of lies, close the shop of hatred and stop abusing the public. Search your soul. The answer to the misery of the Congress is hidden there.”
Another Union minister
Hardeep Singh Puri, in a scathing attack on the Congress over Surjewala’s remarks, said the grand old party is going from losses into irrelevance.
He said, "Who is saying what, it is their compulsion. He belongs to such a party that has enough contribution to the freedom movement of the country. But they are going from losses into irrelevance… By making such remarks, it is evident that they have decided to remain in the Opposition."
BJP's IT department headed Amit Malviya Rahul Gandhi's special, Surjewala, is calling those who voted for the BJP "monsters". He is cursing them too! Because of this mental state of the Congress, its high command and courtiers, the party and its leaders have lost their mass base. But now they have to be humiliated more in the people's court.
Surjewala, who is the Congress’s senior observer for Madhya Pradesh (MP) which will go to polls later this year, has come in for sharp attack from state chief minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan as well.
Chouhan said, “Congress leaders call people rakshas. It is the Congress’s real face. I want to ask
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi whether they consider the people of this country rakshas.”
Hitting out at the central Congress leadership, the MP CM said those who claim to run the “shop of love” consider the public as demons. “Are crores of people who voted for the BJP rakshas as the Congress leader is saying? Madhya Pradesh is my temple, the people living in it are my God and their priest is Shivraj Singh Chouhan.”
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, "Having failed to launch the prince again and again, the Congress has now started abusing the public," and added that on the one hand, there is
PM Modi, who is seen as a form of 'janardan' by 140 crore countrymen, and on the other, there is the Congress which considers people as demons.
"People of the country understand this difference very well and will work to shut down the mega shopping mall of their hatred," he said.
